Euntai Kim was born in Seoul, Korea, in 1970. He received the B.S. (as the top of the university) and the M.S. and the Ph.D. degrees in electronic engineering, all from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea, in 1992, 1994 and 1999, respectively. From 1999 to 2002, he was a full-time lecturer in the Department of Control and Instrumentation Engineering at Hankyong National University, Kyonggi-do, Korea. Since 2002, he has joined the faculties of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Yonsei University, where he is currently an associate professor. He was a visiting scholar at University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada, in 2003 and also was a visiting researcher at BISC (Berkeley Initiative in Soft Computing), UC at Berkeley, USA. His current research interests include computational intelligence and statistical machine learning and their application to intelligent service robot, unmanned vehicle, and biometrics. Dr. Kim was awarded Haedong prize from the Institute of Institute of Electronics Engineers of Korea and Woo kwangbang's prize from the Institute of Control, Automation, and Systems Engineers in 2003 and 2004, respectively. He is an associate editor of International Journal of Control and Systems. He was also listed in Marquis Who's Who in the World in 2006 and 2007 and Marquis Who's Who in Asia in 2007. Dr Haizhou Li is a Principal Scientist at the Institute for Infocomm Research in Singapore and a conjoint Professor at the University of New South Wales in Australia. His research interests include speaker recognition, automatic speech recognition and natural language processing. He has published over 200 technical papers in international journals and conferences. Dr Li now serves as an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Audio, Speech and Language Processing, and ACM Transactions on Speech and Language Processing. He is an elected Board Member of the International Speech Communication Association (2009-2013). Jun Li received his B.S. in mechanical and electrical engineering and M. Eng. in the biometrics processing from the University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China, in 1997 and 2002, respectively. He obtained Ph.D. degree in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2007. His research interests include biometrics (fingerprints and iris recognition), Computer Vision, Object Detection (especially in face analysis). Kar-Ann Toh is a full professor in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Yonsei University, South Korea. He received the PhD degree from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He worked for two years in the aerospace industry prior to his post-doctoral appointments at research centres in NTU from 1998 to 2002. He was affiliated with Institute for Infocomm Research in Singapore from 2002 to 2005 prior to his current appointment in Korea. His research interests include biometrics, pattern classification, optimization and neural networks. He is a co-inventor of a US patent and has made several PCT filings related to biometric applications. Besides being an active member in publications, Dr. Toh has served as a member of advisory board and technical program committee in international conferences related to biometrics and artificial intelligence. He is currently an associate editor of Pattern Recognition Letters and IET Biometrics. He is a senior member of the IEEE. Dr Liyuan Li is a Senior Scientist at the Institute for Infocomm Research in Singapore. He received BE and ME degrees from Southeast University, China in 1985 and 1988, and PhD degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2001. During 1988 to 1999, he was on the faculty of Southeast University. Since 2001, he has been a research scientist in the Institute for Infocomm Research. His current research interests include computer vision, image processing, pattern recognition, machine learning, and the applications in video surveillance, human-robot interaction, and medical image processing.
