    About Wujun LIU

    About Xiang HUANG

This is a book that presents the basic information of Shanghai as a city and highlights some key, influential projects of urban development undertaken since the 1970s. While reviewing the many rounds of urban planning Shanghai has gone through since the mid-19th century, the book examines in detail the 2001 Master City Plan of Shanghai, covering such aspects of Shanghai's urban development as its nature, size, development strategy, overall distribution, industrial development, transportation, environment, preservation of historical sites, residential construction, social undertakings, infrastructures, disaster prevention, underground space planning, town planning, and other special topics. Last but not least, it also introduces Shanghai's urban planning administration systems as well as the examination and approval procedures.
