The purpose of this series is to host high level contributions describing the current major technologies and emerging mathematical problems in biomedical imaging. Important research directions in biomedical imaging, such as brain imaging, molecular imaging approaches, multi-wave modalities, and intensity-modulated therapy, trigger the investigation of fundamental problems in various branches of mathematics, including inverse problems, statistics and stochastic analysis, integral geometry, harmonic and complex analysis, numerical simulations, control and optimization, and signal and image analysis. The series will publish advanced textbooks and research-level monographs that will illustrate the interplay among these branches of mathematics and make modelling as an effective tool for biomedical imaging as well as for enhancing technological innovation. The ultimate goal of the series is to promote collaborations between mathematicians and scientists from biomedical imaging that lead to mathematically-based better solution of the most challenging problems in applications
