Quantum many-body theory has existed as a discipline in its own right dated back to the 1950s. Since then it has developed rapidly and it is now one of the cornerstones of modern theoretical physics. This field has remained vibrant, active and vigorous as well as exciting, throughout all these times. In this field, there exist a few powerful techniques, which is now truly universal. These techniques are constantly being applied in new fields while at the same time continue to advance in their traditional areas of application.
