The Science, Engineering, and Biology Informatics (SEBI) book series focuses on advancing the state of the art in the application of advanced information technology to science, engineering and biological problems. Since many of these problems have common needs for information and data management, the advancement of these technologies is central to SEBI. Of particular interest are the following topics with applications to science, engineering and biology: Intelligent information systems and software tools, novel data types and modeling techniques, scalable search methods and index structures, efficient data gathering and storage, information visualization, access and retrieval, knowledge discovery and data mining, high performance data analysis algorithms, interoperability in heterogeneous systems, information integration and dissemination, decentralized data and resource sharing, Web semantics and ontologies, data quality, security and privacy, and others. The series includes publications of various types, for example, textbooks, monographs, edited volumes, conference and workshop proceedings, as well as PhD theses with significant impact.
