Series on Manufacturing Systems and Technology
    (ISSN: 1793-1290)

    Joint Editors-in-Chief:
    A Y C Nee (NUS)
    J-H Chun (MIT)

    Assistant Editor
    S K Ong (NUS)

It is generally acknowledged that the wealth of a nation is closely related to its ability to produce high value-added manufacturing goods, and this is largely dependent on the capability and advancement of its manufacturing technology. The manufacturing systems and technologies available today are totally different from those that used several decades ago. New processes and technologies have emerged rapidly, riding the wave of phenomenal growth that has occurred in computer and Internet technology. Closed door excellence has become global partnership; deciding what the customers want has evolved into customers creating their own products; look-ahead philosophy in product design determines the end-of-life product treatment before the product is even fully conceptualized; what used to be a tolerance has become the dimension of a component; simulation has leapt from computer graphics to virtual and mixed realities.

Global competition and the race for manufacturing excellence have created a scenario where research institutes, companies and universities are laboring on research issues to shorten product design cycle, reach higher quality and reliability levels, and achieve lower production costs, while satisfying numerous environmental concerns as well. There is a strong need for researchers to share their findings and recommendations with the global manufacturing community in order to achieve the next level of excellence.

The Book Series on Manufacturing Systems and Technology aims to publish the latest approaches in the various fields of manufacturing. Not only useful to the manufacturing practitioners, the series is also invaluable to academics, researchers and graduate students. Some of the areas to be covered in the Series include, but are not limited to, the following topics:

    ·   Digital Manufacturing and Enterprise
    ·   Mass Customization and Personalization
    ·   Monitoring and Automatic Supervision in Manufacturing
    ·   Reconfigurable Manufacturing
    ·   Precision Micro- and Nano-Assembly
    ·   Product Lifecycle Management
    ·   E- and M-commerce
    ·   Micro- and Nano-Manufacturing
    ·   Virtual and Augmented Reality Applications in Manufacturing
    ·   Advanced Machining and Tooling Techniques
    ·   Applications of AI techniques in Manufacturing
    ·   Graded Materials
    ·   Rapid Prototyping and Rapid Tooling Technologies
    ·   Integrated Product Design and Modeling
    ·   Environmentally-benign Manufacturing

We would like to invite potential authors/editors to consider submitting proposals to this new Book Series on Manufacturing Systems and Technology.
