The Series in 20th Century Chemistry aims to provide a historical
perspective on the development and progress of the varied fields now
to be found in Chemistry. It achieves this by collecting together all
the major papers published by great chemists of this century, in
volumes often edited and with commentary by the featured chemist
himself/herself. Other volumes in this series may contain histories,
or collections of classic papers in a particular area of
chemistry. This collection of volumes forms a valuable first-hand
record of important discoveries and developments for current and
future generations of chemists.
